Moral Decision Making
Before you go anywhere in this survival manual, you need to understand and fully comprehend the concept of morality. Morality is an individual’s perception of right and wrong based on their own personal set of values and virtues. That’s all. A moral act is an action that is acceptable based on your values and virtues. An immoral act is an action that violates your values and virtues. We make conscious decisions in deciding to act morally or immorally, but sometimes we run into what is called a moral dilemma.
A moral dilemma is a decision that has to be made in which one must often choose between unpleasant alternatives. There are often many choices available to us when we make a decision in a moral dilemma. In many cases, one person’s decision in a moral dilemma would be entirely different from another’s due to a differing set of virtues, values, and principles. A scientist, for instance, may decide to sacrifice an animal for the sake of science, whereas a vegetarian might rather save the animal. Christians usually use the Bible as a guide when making such difficult moral decisions.
As a Catholic Christian, the Bible is a very important document to know. Contained in the Bible are the rules by which we are to live.
